edible spring

I love spring.  I love the first bulbs to poke their noses through the snow.  I love watching the progression of the first tiny little green buds on the trees.  I'm so obsessed for signs of spring
that I write the dates down in my calendar when I notice these things.  I like to compare it to the year before, and the year before that.  Some years the arrival of spring seems to be getting earlier, and other years it seems right on time.  Here's a photo of our first radishes just picked from a planter on our terrace.  My husband made a cold frame and planted radishes, arugula, kale, Swiss chard and many other greens.  The top photo is a bunch of wild ramps that I bought at a local market.  They were picked in Roscoe, NY.  They are only available for a very short time, so enjoy them while you can!

I want to eat these colors

All photos copyright:  Farrow & Ball

Farrow & Ball has always been the champions of gorgeous paint colors.   Their new color range for 2011 is so pretty, along with a beautifully styled advertising campaign to go with it.  I have to admit that I love how they painted the antique tableware and flatware.  If anyone knows who styled and photographed these images please let me know who the talented team is.

daily imprint interview

Natalie Walton is a Sydney based editor, stylist and writer who interviews creative types for her blog Daily Imprint.  She has interviewed quite a roster of people including one of my favorite interior designers Kelly Wearstler, along with very talented stylist, designer and storekeeper Sibella Court, and photographer Petrina Tinsley.  The interviews give you a good look at how they all got started in their careers and what drives them forward.  Natalie was lovely enough to include an interview with me on her blog.   Thank you, Natalie!  She is quite the talent herself with several blogs including Frontliners.  Along with a family business designing the most charming wooden bikes for little kids called Taika

new color palettes

THANK YOU to everyone who purchased, or tried to purchase, my pieces thru my online shop on Sunday, April 10th.  Everything sold out within the first hour!  I can still hardly believe it!  It seems that there was so much traffic on the site that some people (including myself) couldn't even get on the site for a couple of hours.  I'm terribly sorry about this.  We are working with the hosting service to make sure this does not happen again.

In the meantime I have been working on some new glazes and would love to know what you think?  I often use pieces that have cracked in firing to paint my glaze samples on.  The  way the pieces crack sometimes create beautiful shapes and I'm quite taken with them.

new items in our online shop!

Time for another sale!  I have a whole bunch of new porcelain pieces that I will be posting on our online shop this Sunday, April 10th, at noon (est.)  Here's a link to our shop.  Keep in mind that the new items won't be displayed until noon on Sunday, so you won't see them before then!

Our shop is a bit like a pop-up shop, but online.  The shop will be open for four days, closing on Thursday, April 14th, at noon (est.)  I've been in a spring/summer mood so the glaze colors are reflecting this in shades of sea, robin's egg blue, ocean, seaweed, sky and lichen.  I hope you find something you like! xo
