new pieces in our shop on july 19th!

We're updating our shop with new pieces on Tuesday, July 19th at 2pm (est.)  Here's a little preview of some of the work that will be for sale!  There will be quite a few white glazed pieces, along with lichen, seaweed, peacock and aqua.  The shop will close after three days on Friday, July 22nd, at 2pm (EST.)    I hope you find something you like!

  1. Hello! How lovely to find your ceramics. I have recently started to make pots myself in Australia - very very badly and amateurishly but always interested to know how others do what they do. Could I ask - your white plates in the top picture; is the rim unglazed? And if unglazed, would that make it unsuitable for food?
    Thank you

  2. Hello PP! So sorry for my long delay in response to your question. I've been off in my own little world (in Maine) working on new pieces for the fall. To answer your question about my unglazed rims and whether they are food safe. Unglazed surfaces of pieces made from midrange and highfire clays are considered foodsafe when fired to their full maturity because the clay particles vitrify enough -- they melt together enough -- to form a waterproof surface. I fire my stoneware and porcelain pieces to cone 6 which is midrange. I try to keep my unglazed areas to minimum and if it compromises the functionality of the piece then I specify that it is for decorative use only. I hope this helps! Good luck with your ceramics!
    kindly,
    Michele
